Rest Matters

Hey Bestie! Curates bookish women’s retreats to help you feel restored and refreshed. Did you know rest could also be experiential?

Six Types of Rest

  • Restore your body’s energy. This could mean getting a good night’s sleep, but also stretching your muscles or benefitting from a massage.

  • Release your mind from the endless math, logistics, and worries. Quiet your thoughts through journalling, working on a puzzle, meditation or low-stakes tasks.

  • Process your emotions with a friend or your therapist rather than pushing them aside. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb for a while and allow yourself to feel your feelings.

  • Social rest may mean scheduling fewer activities during the week or spending more time alone to recharge. Alternatively, this can also mean spending time with relationships that feel supportive and meaningful.

  • Sensory Rest can include taking a break from noise, screens, and technology in general.

  • Find ways to engage in creative hobbies—whether knitting, writing, baking, or painting—for fun, not productivity.
